Miss Liberia, Ethel Zoe Norman

On November 7,1963,Miss Liberia, Ethel Zoe Norman, became the first black woman to make the semi-finals at the Miss World.It was the first time in history that Liberia placed in Miss World. In 1983, Miss Liberia-World, Annie Broderick, was elected "Miss Africa-World". On December 4, 1999, Miss Liberia, Sebah Esther Tubman, was 4th runner-up at the Miss World pageant. Since 1980,Liberia is one of the World´s poorest countries.
